Counting Kisses

Counting Kisses: A Kiss & Read Book - Karen Katz

Written by Karen Katz

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

This is a really cute counting book for very young ones. It goes through the numbers 1-10, with parents giving their baby so many kisses on parts of the baby, such as on her nose or hands. It is one of those books where the parent can really make it interactive if they choose to. This can be a super fun book through the toddler years. the illustrations are very colorful as well.

Example quote: "eight squishy kisses on chubby, yummy knees"

Teaching opportunity: This is, of course, a book that opens up the opportunity to focus on counting. So count with your little ones! Count toys, legos, candies, fingers...whatever is their interest. If one is a little older and wanting to learn to write numbers, squeeze hair gel into a ziplock baggie. Once the bag is sealed and placed on a flat surface, allow children to use their fingers on the outside of the bag to press numbers into the hair gel. They can practice writing the perfect 6, 7, or whatever number they are working on.
