I really loved this book. Percy Jackson learns he is a demigod, or half- blood, meaning his mom is human and his dad is a Greek god. He is acused of stealing Zues' thunderbolt and Hades' helm, and must go on a dangerous adventure with his sidekick satyr, Grover, and his new friend Annabeth, to clear his name and set things right. There is truly so much going on in this book, constantly a new challenge for Percy and his friends to conquer, a really great storyline. My only complaint is the corny writing here and there, such as the use of "man", "dude", or "lets whup some butt". If you can look past that, it is definitely a good read. One of the best books I've read in quite a while. There is a couple of parts that might be questionable to kids younger than 10, although it doesn't give descriptions but implies certain violent actions that might leave your imagination wincing. But the author knows how to not dwell or make it grousome for the intended ages.
